An “I Have a Dream” vision board event for Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be held January 17 at 2:30 p.m. as an in-person and virtual event for students in grades 3-12.
The in-person location is Broadway United Methodist Church, 1323 Melrose Street, and the virtual option will be performed via Zoom.
The event will provide a space for youth in grades 3-12 to visualize and chart their dreams and plans for the future. It will also feature a motivational speaker and group leaders to guide the event and encourage attendees to discuss their hopes.
According to the website, “The vision board events were used as a way for an individual to consider their goals and begin presenting them for them to see.
Poster boards, glue sticks and scissors will be provided free of charge to in-person attendees. Some magazines will also be available.
Magazine donations for the event are being accepted through January 14 at two locations. Light of Chance, Inc. at 527 State Street Tuesday through Thursday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Broadway United Methodist Church, 1323 Melrose Street, Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. are the drop-off locations. Magazines should be suitable for readers in grades 3-12.
